Briquette Press Machine Classifications

----help your find the right briquette machine

Briquette press has many meanings. In general, all machines that can press and extrude powdery materials into briquettes, bricks, sticks or balls, and other shapes can be called briquette press or briquette machine. But how to classify different briquette presses and distinguish which type is the one you are looking for? Here we’d like to discuss.

According to the raw materials, briquette presses can be divided into biomass briquette press and non-biomass briquette press.

Biomass Briquette Press Machine

There are a variety of biomass briquette presses.
Divided from mechanical principle, there are: mechanical stamping briquette press, hydraulic briquette press and screw briquette press.

Mechanical stamping briquette press
This is an industrial biomass briquette machine and also a multi-functional machine: it can make both 8/10mm diameter pellets and 22/30/70mm diameter briquettes. The only difference is the mold. Its capacity is 820-1200kg/h.
Its raw materials can be sawdust, straw, stalk, agricultural residues etc. If you want to produce biomass briquettes for industrial use, this machine meets your need.
How does it work?
The raw material is fed into the briquette machine and extruded to the stamping chamber. Then the piston will push the raw material and press it through the mold holes. Finally briquettes are formed.

Hydraulic briquette press
Hydraulic briquette press, also called hydraulic briquette machine, is used to make biomass briquettes or bricks from wood, sawdust, rice husk, tree branches, straw, rice husk, etc.
It has compact size and excellent quality as well as small capacity (125/300kg/h) makes it ideal for small scale briquettes production.
How does it work?
After pulverized by the crusher or hammer mill, powdery raw material is fed into the hydraulic briquette press. When a portion of raw material is let into the pressing chamber, then the hydraulic cylinder will give a great force to the raw material. When several pieces of briquettes are pushed out, the outermost one will drop from the hydraulic briquette press.

Screw briquette press
The screw briquette press is a another kind of widely used briquette machine since the briquettes can be burnt directly or made into charcoal briquettes for more convenient use and sell at higher price.
This screw briquette machine can process wood, sawdust, rice husk, peanut shell, crop waste and many other biomasses.
How does it work?
When the biomass raw material is fed into the machine, it is extruded by screw power. So the briquettes can be cuboid-shaped or hexagon shape with a hole in the center.

While based on raw materials, there is sawdust briquette press, wood briquette machine, straw briquette press, rice husk briquette machine, coconut shell briquette machine, etc.
However, most people look for biomass briquette presses depending on their purposes of briquettes, such as fuel briquette machine, charcoal briquette machine, etc.

Fuel briquette machine: all the 3 types of briquette presses can be used to make fuel briquette, so the only determining factor is your requirement.
Charcoal briquette machine: for making charcoal briquettes, it is often advised to choose screw briquette press, since the briquettes made by this machine have regular shape and length, good appearance, easy to combust and durable to burn. And as a matter of fact most charcoal briquette producers choose screw briquette press instead of other types.

Industrial Briquette Press (non-biomass briquette press)

There are many kinds of non-biomass industrial briquette press machines mainly for processing mineral powders which include coal, metal and other minerals. The most common seen ones are roller briquette press, high pressure briquette press, dry powder briquette press, mineral powder briquette press and desulfurized gypsum briquette press.

Roller briquette machine
This is the most commonly utilized briquette press. It can process coal dust, coke, charcoal dust (coal/charcoal/coke briquette press), or iron powder, gypsum, slag, etc. It is widely used in refractory material, power plants, metallurgy, chemical, energy, transport and heating industries.
After the pressing of roller briquette press, these waste raw materials become energy-saving, environmental friendly and easy to transport. It increases the utilization ratio of waste materials.

Roller Briquette Machine

High pressure briquette press
It is mainly used for processing coal dust, coal slime, middling coal, coke dust and coking coal, etc. It is also used to process lime (see lime powder briquette press). Those powdery materials that need to be used in stove or furnace can be pressed by this kind of briquette press.

Dry powder briquette machine
It is used to process raw materials that do not contain water or moisture, such as quicklime powder, magnesium powder, copper powder, chromium ores, lead and zinc scrap, bauxite, non-ferrous metal powder, refractory materials, ceramic materials, etc.
Through the pressing of dry powder briquette press, these materials are made into ball briquettes with high density. So it is widely used in smelting, chemical and refractory material industries.

Mineral powder briquette press machine:
The mineral powder briquette press is used to press all kinds of iron powder, mineral powder, oxidized scale, slag, refractory materials, etc. Almost all powdery materials that need to be clinkering should be pressed by mineral powder briquette press.
It has high forming pressure, adjustable main engine rotating speed and equipped with screw feeding device.

Desulfurized gypsum briquette press
This machine can press desulfurized gypsum powder into briquettes without adding any adhesives in one time, and the forming rate is above 90%. The briquettes made by this machine have high intensity and hardness, so that they are not easy to break during transportation.
By raw materials, briquette presses can be divided into coal briquette press, charcoal/coke briquette press, mineral powder briquette press, lime briquette press, BBQ charcoal briquette press, shisha charcoal briquette press, etc.

Coal briquette press
As its name indicates, coal briquette press is to make coal briquettes. The coal briquette press can process brown coal, lignite coal, lean coal, anthracite, peat, and the old brown coal, also charcoal fines, coke dust/fines, peacoke, carbon black, carbon dust, clay, activated carbon, etc.
The roller coal briquette press can make coal dust into round, pillow, oval shapes, while honeycomb coal ball machine can make honeycomb coal balls which are easy to combust and durable to burn.

Charcoal briquette press
Besides the above mentioned coal briquette press that can process charcoal, there are another 2 types of charcoal briquette presses: BBQ charcoal briquette press and shisha charcoal briquette press.

BBQ charcoal briquette press
BBQ charcoal briquette press can make charcoal powder into round stick shape with a hole in the center. The BBQ charcoal is a kind of good fuel for BBQ cooking, and at the same time it makes full use of waste charcoal powder.

Shisha charcoal briquette press
Shisha charcoal briquette press is used to make shisha charcoal powder into round tablets to be convenient to burn and smoke. It is especially popular in Arabian countries.

Mineral powder briquette press
This machine has been discussed above.

Lime briquette press
It is a kind of high pressure briquetting press, also dry powder briquette press. The lime briquette press machine is used for making lime powder, ferrosilicon powder, chromium powder, magnesium powder, MgO (magnesium oxide), nickel alloy, refractory materials and other fines which contain low content water or no water into briquettes. It does not need binder, but it still can make these materials into dense briquettes.

After reading the above article, you might probably have a general idea of how to distinguish biomass briquette press and non-biomass briquette press, and how to choose your own briquette press. And that’s what we write this article for.
